This visa is a permanent residence visa which allows businesses in regional Australia to sponsor skilled workers overseas who will then live and work in regional Australia for a minimum period of 2 years.
There are three streams in the Employer nomination subclass 186 visa.The first stream is for employees who hold a 457 visa and now want to apply for a permanent visa and is called the temporary residence transition scheme. The direct entry stream is for people who have not worked in Australia or have worked in Australia for a brief time.The agreement stream is for people who are nominated by an employer who has a labour agreement in place with the government.
You might be able to get this visa if you:
have been nominated by an approved Australian employer for a job in regional Australia (regional Australia does not include the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong or Melbourne)
are younger than 50 years of age, unless you are exempt
meet the skills, qualifications and English language requirements, unless you are exempt
apply under the stream for which you were nominated.
